Nike Takes The Vintage Treatment A Step Further With Cracked Leather Dunks_Fashion at Your Feet
If you’re a hoarded of Nike Dunks from the 1980s (or Air Jordan 1s for that matter), you’d be well aware that there’s one common detail that unites all of these nearly four-decade-old sneakers. That would be signature cracked leather on the ankle collar, a clear-cut sign that indicates just how old a pair of Dunks are.
In continuing its old-but-actually-new trend, Nike is bringing that signature detail to the Dunk Low. Based on these first leaked images shared by @masterchefian on Twitter, this upcoming Dunk brings in the familiar yellowed soles and worn-in leather uppers, but combined with the deteriorating material on the ankle, these look straight out of a small-town thrift store. The navy/yellow colorway may draw ties to Michigan, but the color-blocking on this pair is vastly different from the original Be True creation from the 80s.
You can expect this execution on a number of other Dunk Low colorways in late 2023/early 2024, so stay tuned for updates.
